It's not easy taking it so easy.. Game ON! A few birds ate pretty well..
The Chinese fighter helmet made it back to camp.. Cool temps and the water was 70 degrees!

Sunrise on the lake is just as Zen as you can get...
mmm.. hands gripped on a cup of coffee...
Just across the border, in North Stratford NH, there's over 100 miles of four wheeler trails to be found...
Stark wilderness just aching to be awakened with the 450
Back at the lake for dinner, and this kingfisher was diving in and out of the water..
As usual, the loons make their way past the dock daily..
OH glorious summer.. stretch in the sun!
Back out on the four wheeler, those are incorrectly known as Percy Peaks..
To answer the age-old question: does a bear shit in the woods? Ayuh!
from Sugarloaf trail, outside Groveton NH. By the way, I've never been chased by so many deerfly in all my life. Thank God for White Mountain Insect Repellent!
Moose tracks with the toe of my boot for scale...
Buggy, buggy stream..
Some of the trails are just this smooth.. but many of them are much rougher
Back at the lake, Boys' weekend has commenced!
Before the rain arrived, we were treated to a full rainbow
And after the sun set, we treated the rest of the lake to a fireworks show...
Panoramic view from the porch
Previous years follow... Not too much rain... Just a brief power failure.. notice the stern light hanging from the ceiling. Don't let the State tell you that the water's only down an inch! Mr. Red Squirrel has become quite bold with people around.. The loon family made its regular rounds.. Simply amazing, Scott fell into the lake without smacking any shallow rocks and kept his cigarette burning...
Chris P. stunned us all by reeling in an eight inch Perch.. When the sun shines here.. ... words fail me. Just one of many poker games getting started.. Also a reference photo for Brett's surgeons.. Night-mopeding lived up to everyone's expectations.. Brett spent 6 hours in the ER, Sunday Night.. We all poured out of camp in caravan fashion already looking forward to next year.
Oh yeah.. Hummingbirds... Did you know that the ruby throat is an optical illusion? Feathers in the throat area trap the full spectrum of light minus the red. Not so many came by to sit at once this year.. But it still serves as proof that there's no need to buy any sort of dyed nectar. Just add 1 cup sugar to 4 cups boiling water and refrigerate. |
